Nathan Hubbard established his private music studio in 2011. As it has grown and developed, Nathan has taught a wide spectrum of ages and abilities. He specifically focuses on private piano and oboe students, group piano lessons for preschoolers, and high school chamber coachings.

Nathan is the Director of Music at Camp Encore/Coda, a summer music and sports camp in Maine, where he spends his summers leading a team of musicians to empower and inspire young musician's lives.

As an oboist, Nathan continues to teach oboe in Maine over the summers. During the school year he maintains a private oboe studio. Nathan was principal oboist of the Dearborn Symphony for their 2014/2015 season and has been featured as a guest clinician at the Red Cedar Festival in Okemos, MI.

As a pianist, Nathan maintains a private teaching studio of mostly beginning and intermediate pianists. His previous positions include adjunct piano faculty at Mount San Antonio College and the Advanced Piano Instructor at the South Pasadena Arts & Music Academy. Part of his Pedagogy Master's research included studying preschool music lessons and he has applied that research to a group piano program he created to teach 4 and 5 year olds.

From 2015-2018, Nathan was a member of the woodwind quintet The Verdant Winds. They were an ensemble of teaching artists focused on providing interactive and creative learning to all levels and ages, as well as performing at their highest level. Their mission was to create an engaging and exciting musical environment for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. In 2016, The Verdant Winds partnered with a 4th grade class in Waverly, MI and spent a semester engaging the students with musical form. In 2017, the quintet completed a residency in a memory care unit of a retirement community. Nathan is proud of the community-building work of The Verdant Winds and continues their mission of engagement in his current performances.

Nathan Hubbard has a Doctorate in Oboe Performance from Michigan State University. He has Masters of Music degrees in Oboe Performance and Piano Pedagogy, studying oboe with Jan Eberle and piano with Derek Polischuk. He has previously studied oboe with Jeff Rathbun at the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory in Cleveland.
